The injury bug has now gotten ahold of WWE World Champion, Seth Rollins.
Rollins suffered a tear to his ACL, MCL and medial lateral in his knee during a match in Dubia Thursday evening, and has been stripped of the World Title. Rollins will miss the next 6 to 9 months once he goes under the knife to repair the tear. In all likelihood, we won’t be seeing “The Future” until next November or December once he rehabs.
In wake of Rollins injury, there will now be a tournament to crown the new World Champion at Survivor Series. Now, we don’t know who are apart of the tournament, but WWE creative has already made the smart decision of having the tournament at the Pay-Per-View. Now, who should win the title is what concerns me about the creative team.
I mean, may be wrong, but I doubt it!
There’s a host of wrestlers on the main roster that has the opportunity to become the face of the company for the next few months. With John Cena gone until the beginning of January, Randy Orton out for the next six months due to shoulder surgery, and Brock Lesnar’s part-time contract, the WWE has to get this right.
Fellow Sportsmanreport.com writer Jacob Barber wrote a brilliant scenario to include every active member on the main roster, including a Battle Royal and tournaments on Raw to decide the Elite Eight for the Survivor Series PPV. So I’m going to predict who I feel should be in the PPV tournament and who should win, along with a twist!
ROMAN REIGNS- He’s been on course to become the new face of WWE ever since The Shield disbanded. Since then, he’s won the Royal Rumble, headlined WrestleMania, and had a long feud with the Wyatt Family. He also won last Monday’s Fatal Four Way to become the #1 contender to fight – then World Champion Seth Rollins – at Survivor Series. So, Reigns fighting his way through another obstacle to win his first World Title isn’t something that’s new to him.
DOLPH ZIGGLER- Ziggler may be the most disrespected wrestler on the active roster. His character has been a butt of jokes for over two years now. Everyone in there right mind knows that Ziggler is just a throw-in just to give fans who don’t have common sense a glimpse of hope that Ziggler can get his well deserved run. But of course, it won’t happen.
DEAN AMBROSE- The Lunatic Fringe has stayed the course since going solo. He had a pretty solid feud over the World Title and assisted in the feud with Reigns and Wyatt. Ambrose has that factor that captivates the arena. He’s believable on the mic, can hold his own in a match and also in a feud. You know what will make Ambrose character go over the top even more…. I’ll get to that in a few.
CESARO- He continues to improve, but continues to be misused by creative. He was given a mic piece by becoming a Paul Heyman guy, then his tag team partner was injured, and now Cesaro is just, stuck. As always. Creative can never find a way to get Cesaro a good feud or a nice that he deserves.
ALBERTO DEL RIO- Shocking the entire WWE Universe with his return at Hell in a Cell and defeating John Cena for the U.S Title, Del Rio has thrusted himself back into the main event status. He participated in the Fatal Four Way for the #1 contenders match last Monday and should continue his winning ways. Just not in the Survivor Series tournament.
SHEAMUS- I would like to continue to say that putting the Money in the Bank briefcase on Sheamus was a horrible idea. And now with Rollins injury and the ever so apparent title reign that Roman Reigns will have in the near future, as much as it pains me to say this, having him cash in the briefcase at Survivor Series will be a good idea. Solely to get the belt off of him quickly after.
NEW DAY……. I mean, KEVIN OWENS- Wouldn’t it be awesome for the New Day to surprise us at the PPV and announce they’re in the tournament? The likelihood of that happening is very, very low, so we’ll throw the Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens in there. Owens has been great since entering the main roster this year. His 3 month feud with John Cena was great, and picking up the IC belt has been a success so far. Owens is on the road to great things in his career.
RYBACK- Another throw in here. Ryback has had a pretty solid 2015 and IC title run before losing it to current champion Kevin Owens. His entrant into the tournament is nothing more that a potential build up of a future feud with another losing participant.
SURVIVOR SERIES FINALS- ROMAN REIGNS VS DEAN AMBROSE
This a something most of us have been waiting for and it was bound to happen. With Reigns being given most of the push and attention throughout 2015 and after the break-up of The Shield, Ambrose has played 2nd fiddle to Reigns. Even after many thought Ambrose was the mouth and brains of the group. At least, I thought that.
But this could be the coming out party for Ambrose. With the likelihood of Reigns capturing his first World Title belt at next years Wrestlenmania, giving Ambrose now on a short term basis could do well for WWE.
But what could make this even better, is him turning heel, and joining The Authority!!!
